An excellent teacher, part cabaret MC, part architect her class helped me rediscover the joy of writing and filled me with the faith in my work. Think group fitness meets your writing practice! Guided by her robust prompts and encouragement I surprised myself with the unusual characters and memories I stumbled upon.

Being that I am not a writer, I was a bit confused when Marlene invited me to her “Write Party”. I had no idea what to expect, but thought what the heck. I have so many life stories & had always fantasized getting them down on paper, so I decided to participate. Write Party has simply been one of the most satisfying things I have ever done & has allowed me to explore my amazing life with a gathering of creative people each with their own unique life stories. Marlene truly listens to every word we read out loud & gives amazing feedback that makes me want to keep on writing. She has helped me give life to my personal history that has been swirling around in head for so long. I have learned that we are all writers.---Erica Koesler, Milliner
I was nearly flabbergasted by how many words I put on the page in 2 hours. I told friends afterward that my time spent in the writing workshop with the other group members was "absolutely delightful". I found it a very unique yet clear way to express my creativity and open my mind. I would wholeheartedly recommend working with Ms. Nichols. ---LORETTA FOX, Writer/Performer
I didn’t know I had it in meI I can’t say enough about Marlene Nichols and her workshops. I’m a teacher and Marlene’s tools and tricks for generating ideas were a boon to me. I surprised myself at what came forth from my little pen. I didn’t know I had it in me. She creates an environment that is supportive and nurturing. We worked on our individual pieces but were each an important part of the bigger process that was unfolding. Grateful. ---MARY STANCAVAGE, Teacher; Beyond The Stream
I was completely caught by surprise at what came out of me during the writing exercises. It was like taking a walk through a magical, secret garden. Although I have been an actress and now a producer, I never thought of myself as a writer. Excited to explore another side of myself I didn't even know existed ---ANDREA SMITH, Independent Producer
What a great experience. I realized that my writing had the potential to be much more creative and colorful. Through the exercises we did, I learned how to approach a story from different angles and more varied perspectives. And it was fun using unusual prompts and objects to inspire our work. ---PABLO MARZ, Actor/Producer/Creator of Tell It!
The series of exercises we did were easy enough not to intimidate, but provocative enough to open surprising new avenues wherever my imagination wanted to wander. I do a lot of promotional writing at work, some bordering on academic. Artistically, I've done a bunch of dialogue and story development for theatrical scripts, but I've never done this kind of wide-open, generative writing. I discovered this whole surreal/fantastical sensibility I didn’t even know I had. I’m quirkier than I thought I was. The group dynamic was very encouraging. ---SASHA CARERRA- Actor/Writer/Art Gallery Director
The community that gathers to participate and share aloud their works makes it an inviting, inclusive writer's salon. Artists, scientists, actors, filmmakers, actors, I’ve taken delight in their work. Currently sweating out a feature-length script, I feel like I've gained a stocked pantry full of fresh, interesting prompts to keep pushing through with my process, until the final script comes out in the rinse. Marlene is not only a gifted facilitator, but also a sympathetic listener. She provides notes that help us recognize the strengths, directionality, and potential in our works. ---HANUL BAHM, Filmmaker
